The following buildings are noteworthy among the buildings on the Lisboa Street, now Street of Libertadores de África: the Bank Ultramarino (present day Bank of Cabo Verde), a structure with iron verandas, 1915-1922; the former Public Works building, 1880-1882; and the Municipal Market (1878, enlarged 1930-1933). The expressive features of these buildings derive from their intended utilitarian purpose, an aspect reflected in the use of iron technology.
