Near the entrance to the river another public space was created for commercial support buildings, all now gone. To the works of the custom house and the trading depot were added works on the Casa dos Contos (Financial Office). The buildings of the Custom House and of the Casa dos Contos would have had a ground floor and an upper floor while the trading depot would have been located on the ground floor. The plan was altered by a regulation for the Custom House of 1518 by which it switched floors with the trading depot.
