Fortress
Mocombi [Mocombira], Persian Gulf | Red Sea, United Arab Emirates
Military Architecture
According to Bocarro, this fortress was part of Muscat’s defence system, as it was one of the alternative land connections and was next to Dibba. On the other side of the latter was another fortress, called Dubo. As with the other two, Mocombi was also built by order of Rui Freire de Andrade, in 1624. For its characteristics, see also Dibba al Hisn (Doba, Dibba) and Dubo.
