House of Amílcar Cabral
Bafatá, Guinea-Bissau | Gulf of Guinea | São Tomé and Príncipe, Guinea-Bissau
Housing
This is a vernacular, single-storey house, built following the traditional Portuguese model, with stone walls, a series of doors and windows and a roof with eaves. A house notable for its historical importance, as it was the birthplace of Amílcar Cabral, a proeminent leader of the African Party for the Independence of Guinea and Cape Verde (PAIGC). It is located near the Central Market of the town, but it is in a relative poor state of conservation.
