Equipment and Infrastructures
The present day Hospital Simão Mendes is an architectural model of modern/traditional transition. It is the main hospital of Bissau (with a tiled roof and colonnade). The project of enlargement of the building, more specifically, the Tuberculosis Pavilion, dating from 1951-1953, was credited to the architect Lucínio Cruz, together with Mário de Oliveira. It was enlarged again by Eurico Pinto Lopes between 1961-1963.
