Equipment and Infrastructures

With a façade opening onto the central urban area of the cathedral, this modernist concrete building provides a counterpoint to the church, on the opposite side to the city’s central avenue. The façade has clear representative purposes. It displays a two-storey concrete structure in a geometric grid pattern making use of structural-functional subjects in search of certain monumentality. It was designed by the architect Luís Garcia de Castilho in the mid-1960s.
