Religious Architecture

The church of Vaipar stands in the middle of a large open space to the north of Thoothukudi. Although it has a reinforced concrete porch today, the original façade still exists. This has Mannerist lines, with three sections divided by geminated columns and a frontispiece with a niche in the central section. The façade has an accentuated decoration, with indented wings, low reliefs and a series of pinnacles topping the pilasters. The whole presents us with a typology that is similar to the churches of Malabar, without towers and with a triangular façade.
