Trigo de Morais Dam-Weir
Limpopo, Gaza, Mozambique
Equipment and Infrastructures
It included a bridge/weir, with a road and railway. It is an impressive work in reinforced concrete which regularized the course of the Limpopo River in 1954-1956, allowing for a planned and extensive irrigation of the huge surrounding area. The structure, on brutalist lines, in exposed concrete, has its upper deck supported by solid vertical volumes in a curvilinear design that emerge from the waters of the reservoir. The deck supports the roadway with balustraded guardrails. It was officially renamed after Engineer Trigo de Morais on the 18th February 1961.
