Church of Our Lady of Arrábida
Lobito [Lubito, Olupitu], Benguela, Angola
Religious Architecture
In revivalist, neo-traditional style, the church was designed by architect Vasco Regaleira (Vasco de Morais Palmeiro, 1897-1968). In the general Traditional Portuguese arquitectural model, it is specifically in the style of a village church with its profusion of projecting eaves and a porch of semi-circular arches surrounding the front and sides. The main body has a saddleback roof and a side belfry tower topped by a roofed pyramidal spire.
