Equipment and Infrastructures

Other public buildings should be mentioned, such as: the Municipal Swimming Pool (from around 1964); the Telephone Exchange (from the 10th June 1967); the ensemble of the Hotel Infante de Sagres by the architect Luís Amaral; a hotel and several stores by Luís Taveira (the Huambo born with, according to Rodrigues, “an irregular architecture made to stand out against the urban ensemble”, after 1975, he settled in Brasília); the building of the Capitaincy from the 1960s by the Lobito born Rui Mendo (he worked in Brazil and later for EPUL in Lisbon); and the different facilities of the Benguela Railway by Júlio Afonso (architect from Porto) for the Benguela Railway.
