Built on Victoria Road, possibly in the 19th century, initially by João Baptista da Costa and concluded by his apprentice Sanusi Aka, it followed sacred models of Luso-Brazilian influence, having been “built by Afro-Brazilian artisans”, who later influenced the construction of the Large Mosque of Porto Novo. The richly decorated two-storey façade has a ground floor with four semi-circular arches along typical 19th century lines, and the upper floor has two central bays,
