Erected in the early 1960s, the building has two simple storeys tailored to its function. It is an elegant rectangular plan building. The glazed ground floor serves its commercial purpose including a series of shops within the columnar structure of reinforced concrete. The market itself is on the first floor, and is more compact, the façades being interrupted by windows. On the upper floor there is a pergola-type veranda suggesting similar buildings in Lobito and in Luanda.
