The Dominicans’ church founded in 1559 was bigger than the Jesuits,’ although Pedro Barreto Resende inverted this order of grandeur in his drawing. But a glance at more modern maps and at the still impressive Dominican ruins suffices: still standing are part of the façade, the long wide nave and the chancel with the bases of the coffered vault. To the west is the cloister’s perimeter and some of its arches.
